Students from the University Preparatory College (UPC) taking the GEO401 course participated in a field trip to Zaina Tina, East Honiara, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

The purpose of the trip was to provide students with real-world experiences that complement their classroom learning. As part of their assessment, students observed and analyzed geographical features, which they will later report on.

Course Coordinator Joycelyn Maqa stated, โ€œThis field trip was an invaluable opportunity for our GEO401 students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world observations. Itโ€™s one thing to learn about geography in the classroom, but experiencing it firsthand allows students to better understand the concepts and see how they apply in our local environment. We are confident that this hands-on learning experience will enrich their understanding and contribute significantly to their assessments.โ€

This hands-on learning experience aims to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application, enhancing students’ understanding of geography.
