CITY CLERK, MR. DENNI ADVOCATES FOR COLLABORATIVE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT EFFORTS

During a Joint Coordination Committee meeting under the JPRISM 3 project that was held at the Honiara City Council Chamber on 1st April 2025, Honiara City Clerk Mr. Justus Denni emphasized the critical need for ongoing collaboration and partnership in addressing solid waste management challenges in our city and towns in Solomon Islands.

In his closing remark, he highlighted that joint committee members, as Co-project Manager of the JPRISM 3 initiative, the importance of reassessing goals and targets to ensure effective solid waste management strategies across all localities.

City Clerk Mr. Denni said this initiative not only aims to improve waste management but also fosters sustainable practices that benefit our communities and environment.

Mr. Denni acknowledged the substantial support received from JICA through JPRISM 1 and 2, which equipped Ministries, provincial administrations, and town councils with valuable resources and expertise. With this foundation, he called upon all counterparts to take ownership of solid waste management efforts moving forward, urging members to “Get to work” or, as expressed in Solomon Pijin, “Iumi duim waka nao.”

The meeting aimed to strengthen existing partnerships and foster a collaborative spirit among provincial administrations and town councils, ensuring that the initiatives of JPRISM 3 achieve tangible results for communities.

Honiara City Clerk Mr. Denni encouraged ongoing cooperation and emphasized the importance of leveraging shared expertise in solid waste management.

He expressed gratitude for the attendees’ participation and contributions, inviting future meetings in other provinces to enhance collaborative efforts further. He extended warm greetings to all participants and their respective institutions and communities.
