Wednesday 10 September, Honiara – The Solomon Islands Senior Executive Women in Leadership Program is on again targeting women in executive and senior management roles with the aim to support women to build confidence, expand their skills and knowledge of business operations, and establish networks with other women in senior positions.
Hosted by the Women in Executive Leadership Solomon Islands (WELSI), registration is currently open for upcoming sessions on 30 September and 2,7 and 9 October 2025 and will close on Friday 12 September. This program is designed for senior women leaders and will provide practical tools, insights, and networks to strengthen your leadership journey.
WELSI President, Ms Pamela Naesol Alamu noted the importance of the program in helping women strengthen their networks to thrive in leadership positions.
โStrengthening women’s networks enables women to connect, share experiences, and exchange knowledge and resources. This support system is essential in overcoming barriers to career advancement and leadership roles.
โI am very encouraged to see how many of our program graduates have climb the leadership ladder in their respective organisations and set a shining example for Solomon Islands women.
โMany of our women out there both in the public and private sector also have the potential to lead the way and inspire countless others, and WELSI is proud to be providing this platform for you amazing women,โ she said.
Ms Caroline Kanoko, Solomon Islands Senior Executive Women in Leadership Program graduate and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Solomon Post, shared how the program helped her strengthen her networks. โOne of the things I learned is building of support networks. First of all, you have to create a space with an inner circle and allow people into the inner circle that bring you positive energy.

โFor us women, we are already good managers in our own way. We are already managing ourselves and our families at home. This program will help us recognize our existing and transferrable skills and apply them to whatever we want,โ she said.
Twenty-eight (28) professional women recently graduated from the programโs recent cohort in July earlier this year. One of them is Ms Regina Teama, Assurance Officer at Solomon Ports who encourages other professional women to consider participating in this program and explore the available opportunities.
โThe important thing about this training is putting ourselves out there and become visible,โ she said.
โThe program has given me a lot of insights on how to go about preparing myself to move up in terms of my career. Especially to the executive level where there is a lot of things you must take on board, lots of factors to consider in preparing yourself,โ she said.
Manager HR and Business Support at Solomon Telekom, Ms Verma Mesepitu stressed that to become a woman executive, women must know the standard, what is expected in leadership roles. Ms Mesepitu was also a recent graduate of the program.
โThis training is really an eye opener and has set out clear the expectations.
โIt is a very good training for young women who aspire to become leaders, and it will be available for women going into the future which will benefit not only our organisations but the nation as a whole,โ she said.
The 4-day program will be delivered through a combination of lecture style presentations, case studies, guest speakers, and interactive activities.
The modules covered topics such as risk management and resilience, organisational culture and leadership styles, corporate governance and communications.
Invited participants are women from mid and senior executive positions/managers in the private sector and government, working in diverse departments including finance, corporate, risk-management, and sales and must an employer endorsement to commit to attending all for days of the program.
