A moment of pride and celebration was shared at the British High Commission in Solomon Islands today, as Joanna Kenilorea Hanu was congratulated for her remarkable achievement. She graduated with a Master’s degree (Merit) in Drafting Legislation Regulation and Policy from the University of London’s School of Advanced Study.

In a small ceremony, the Deputy High Commissioner, Emma Davis, extended her heartfelt congratulations to Joanna. “Congratulations to Joanna Kenilorea Hanu for attaining her master’s degree Merit in Drafting Legislation Regulation and Policy from the School of Advanced Study, University of London. A remarkable achievement which we were proud to celebrate at the British High Commission,” Emma Davis said.

Joanna took a moment to reflect on the pivotal role the British High Commission played in her academic journey. She shared how, in 2014, she sought funding from the Commission to attend a Legislative Drafting Course at the Sir William Dale Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in London. At that time, she was a junior drafter at the Attorney General’s Chambers, and the course was recommended to her by the Legal Draftsman.

Joanna expressed her gratitude, acknowledging the support she received from the Commission under His Excellency Mr. Dominic Meiklejohn’s administration. “The Commission graciously agreed to co-sponsor my participation at the course, and this opportunity further fueled my passion for legislation and policy in a significant way,” she remarked.
This achievement marks a significant milestone in Joanna’s career, and her determination and gratitude towards those who supported her journey are truly inspiring.
