SINA FORMALLY WITHDRAWS 28-DAY STRIKE NOTICE

The Solomon Islands Nurses Association (SINA) has formally withdrawn its 28-day strike notice issued to the Government on 4 September 2025.

The withdrawal follows constructive consultations and discussions held on 16 September 2025 between the Governmentβ€”represented by the Secretary to Cabinet, the Attorney General, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Serviceβ€”and the leadership of the SINA.

In a letter dated 23 September, addressed to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Service, the SINA General Secretary, Mr. John Muaki, conveyed that the Association has agreed to withdraw its strike notice.

The Government acknowledges and commends the SINA leadership for engaging in good faith dialogue to resolve matters through consultation rather than industrial action. This outcome reflects the shared commitment of both parties to safeguard the delivery of essential health services to the people of Solomon Islands while continuing discussions on matters of concern to nurses.

The Government remains committed to maintaining open and constructive dialogue with SINA and all public sector unions in addressing workplace matters and strengthening the partnership for improved service delivery.
