HCC MAYOR WELCOMES PACIFIC TA INTERIM PROGRAMME LEADER

The Lord Mayor of Honiara City Council (HCC), Cr. Eddie Kasuteé Siapu, yesterday, 6th of November 2025, has warmly welcomed the Pacific Technical Advisory (TA) Interim Programme Leader, Mr. Murray Staite, from New Zealand, during a courtesy visit to his office.

Mr. Staite recently took over the role from Madam Frances Sullivan as the new leader of the Pacific TA team.

His visit to the Lord Mayor marks an important step in continuing and strengthening the partnership between the Pacific TA Programme and the Honiara City Council.

The purpose of Mr. Staite’s courtesy visit was to discuss how the Pacific TA Programme can continue to support HCC in improving its governance, management, and service delivery to the residents of Honiara.

Both leaders shared views on building institutional capacity, promoting transparency, and developing sustainable systems that will help the Council achieve its long-term goals.

Lord Mayor Siapu expressed his appreciation to Mr. Staite and the Government of New Zealand for their continuous support for the Honiara City Council through the Pacific TA Programme.

He said the technical assistance provided has played a vital role in strengthening HCC’s operations and helping the Council deliver better services to the people.

Mr. Staite thanked the Lord Mayor for the warm welcome and assured him of the Pacific TA Program’s ongoing commitment to work closely with HCC in achieving effective and accountable local governance.
