The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has safely removed a massive 226-kilogram bomb from the site of the newly proposed Taro Township.

Supervising Director of EODD, Staff Sergeant Peter Ririvere, said the bomb was transported to a secure location where it awaits a scheduled demolition operation.
SSgt Ririvere confirmed that this is the third bomb of similar size discovered in the same area this year.

He also revealed that EODD officers recently spent several days in the Western Province, where they removed more than 200 unexploded ordnance items from various locations around Munda. All devices have since been relocated to a safe area for future disposal.

The EODD thanked communities for their continued cooperation and vigilance in reporting unexploded wartime ordnance.

β€œPlease rememberβ€”don’t touch bombs, as they can be fatal. Continue to report any sightings to RSIPF-EODD on 7495214/7495215, or call 999 in an emergency,” SSgt Ririvere said.
