Munda has once again taken the center of attention, but not for good reasons. The recent viral images of the Agriculture Extension office in Munda have caused another debate since the takeover of the Munda Police Station by the dogs.
The images show a broken down and old building that certainly looks like a building that is illegal to be used. The office needs immediate renovation, and the has brought many to share their views and frustration towards the government on the Yumi TokToK Forum.
The issue has got the Minister for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Hon. Wasi personally joined in the conversation on Facebook and explained the situation. Read his statement below.
Statement commented by MAL Minister
Thank you one and all for your comments. As the Minister responsible I must admit that this is the situation of almost all our offices in the provinces.
Late last year I visited Munda together with my PS and our initial plan is to dismantle the building and only concentrate on the office at Noro but that is yet to undergo further consultations.
At the moment, we are focusing on the agriculture offices at Auki and Kira Kira under the World Bank project and negotiating for other funding assistance for other offices in other provinces including Western Province. Proper infrastructure has been long a challenge for the ministry.
To address this, under the Medium-Term Development Plan for 2025 under the Infrastructure Program MAL is prioritizing critical and immediate activities to ensure the availability of essential infrastructure, such as office spaces, residential facilities, and other support structures. This is crucial for enhancing efficiency and convenience which will support our economic growth.
