“You are Messing up this institution,” said Hon. Lilo
“You are messing up this institution,” said the MP for Central Honiara, Hon. Gordon Darcy Lilo to the deputy prime minister and Minister for Mines, Energy, and Rural Electrification (MMERE), Hon. Bradley Tovosia after the Energy minister explained the government’s decision to remove the Solomon Islands Water Authority (SIWA), which is trading as Solomon Water from its position as a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) in parliament last week.
The debate became heated and the intensity of the exchange prompted the Speaker to intervene, urging calm and order in the chamber.
The MP for Central Honiara strongly opposed the move, questioning both the decision itself and the capability of the Energy Minister to improve the situation.
Hon. Lilo then said, “You are messing up these institutions.”
In response, the energy minister said “Sit down! You are talking a lot,” then he went on to defend the decision, emphasizing that it was not made unilaterally but was a collective decision by the Cabinet, and all other avenues had been exhausted.
