HCC LAW ENFORCEMENT DIRECTOR THANKS MAMANA WATER COMMUNITY FOR COOPERATION
The Director of the Honiara City Council (HCC) Law Enforcement Division Mr. Robert Madeo has expressed gratitude to the Mamana Water community for their cooperation in voluntarily dismantling an illegal market and gambling site.
In a statement, the Director praised the community for taking proactive steps to remove the illicit activities without the need for formal enforcement measures.
He acknowledged that the illegal market and gambling operations had been a long-standing issue in the area, leading to concerns over public safety, sanitation, and order.
The voluntary action by the community, he noted, reflects a growing awareness and responsibility among local residents to maintain lawfulness and protect their surroundings.
“The Mamana Water community has set a positive example for other communities facing similar challenges,” he stated.
“Their willingness to work with authorities for the greater good shows the importance of community partnership in upholding the law and promoting a safer environment for all.”
The director of Law Enforcement emphasized that this cooperation not only alleviates the burden on law enforcement resources but also fosters a sense of ownership and pride among residents in keeping their community free from illegal activities.
He urged other communities to follow suit and engage constructively with local authorities to address ongoing issues.
The Law Enforcement Division remains committed to supporting communities in maintaining order and ensuring that public spaces are safe for all citizens.
