Former Prime Minister and Finance minister Manasseh Sogavare has expressed hope in a press conference held yesterday to clarify their resignation from the government that he, along with the 10 Members of Parliament who recently resigned from the Government of National Unity and Transformation (GNUT), as well as members of the Opposition and Independent group, can work together to form a sensible government for the Solomon Islands.

Sogavare said, “a government that cares about this nation.”
He reiterated that they wanted to see hope, security, progress, and prosperity for the people of Solomon Islands, something they believe the current GNUT administration has failed to achieve under its leadership. He emphasized the need for strong leadership with purpose and determination to address the challenges facing the country.

Hon. Manasseh Maelanga added onto Sogavare’s sentiments, stating that he is here for his people and will do what they want. Also, to serve the country in the right way, which the Solomon Islands people prefer.
