In a recent session of the Solomon Islands Parliament, the Honourable Member for East Malaita raised serious concerns regarding the continued presence of the Commissioner of the Telecommunications Commission of Solomon Islands (TCSI) in office, despite allegations of financial mismanagement having been reported to police authorities.
The MP questioned why no suspension has been enforced, emphasizing the need for accountability and immediate action when such serious claims are brought forward. Implying that allowing the Commissioner to remain in office could undermine public trust in the integrity of oversight institutions.

Responding to the question, the Minister for Communication and Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Kologeto stated that a show cause notice has already been conducted. He further clarified that the Ministry is currently awaiting a formal response from the Commissioner before any further steps are taken.

The situation has caused public interest and calls for transparency as the government navigates the next steps. The outcome of the Commissioner’s response is expected to shape the government’s decision on whether disciplinary actions, including suspension, will be taken.
