TWO SCHOOLS in WESTERN PROVINCE RECEIVE SANITATION PROJECT FROM ADRA SI

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Solomon Islands, through its Turn on the Tap (TOTT) project, has successfully completed and handed over a sanitation project for two schools in the Western Province.

Ngari Primary School (NPS) on West Gizo Island, operated by the United Church Education Authority (UCEA), received a fully funded new sanitation facility. While Titiana High School and Primary School, also managed by UCEA, benefited from a newly renovated ablution block funded by ADRA SI.

The official handover for Ngari Primary School took place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, while the handover for Titiana High School and Primary occurred on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The ablution block was fully funded by ADRA Australia and implemented by ADRA SI through the Turn on the Tap (TOTT) Project.

Construction work for Ngari Primary School and Titiana High School began in May and was successfully completed in June 2024. The JK Mabuzu Rural Training Centre (RTC) Carpentry School in West Gizo was contracted to carry out the construction, following an agreement signed between the ADRA TOTT Project and the school.

The handover ceremony was attended by ADRA SI Director Leyn Elizer Gantare, the Minister for Health and Medical Services of the Western Provincial Government Hon. Kenneth George, Mr. Willy Utupio (representative of the Western Provincial Education Provider) Representative of the United Church Education Provider in Western Province, Principal of JK Mabuzu, Ms Leanne Ghuena Bula , primary school students, teachers, school leaders from both communities, and local chiefs.
