Hon. Franklyn Derek Wasi, MP for East Makira, emphasized that the payment was not to place value on the life lost but to settle tensions and allow both sides to resume normal interactions. He acknowledged the small nature of the settlement but stressed its significance as a heartfelt contribution from the suspects’ community.
