South Choiseul Constituency (SCC) has successfully completed its first major cargo delivery operation, a five-day logistical effort that culminated at Taro Station after passing through several key wards including Wagina, Katupika, Vasiduki, Viviru, and Babatana. This marks a major achievement for the SCC office and highlights both progress and the need for continued improvement in service delivery.
The operation engaged 30 casual workers, with strong representation from local wards and the vessel crew. Key leadership from Mr. Charles Soga, Super Cargo and Casual Supervisor, and hands-on support from Constituency Development Committee (CDC) members. Siote, Kabolo, Sokana, and Zengo were critical to the mission’s success. Special thanks were also extended to Mr. Sumakana for managing onboard welfare and communications.
While the delivery was a success, it also exposed several operational challenges. A key concern was the lack of cargo sheds, leaving goods vulnerable to weather and theft. The SCC Logistics Team also noted the need for designated offloading and storage areas in each ward to improve efficiency and reduce pressure on CDCs during fast-paced unloading schedules.
The SCC office is now calling on community leaders, constituents, and stakeholders to support CDC members and help build the infrastructure and systems needed for smoother future operations. The office also recognized the leadership of Hon. MP Tozen Leokana and the efforts of Constituency Development Officer John Kinnie Ngili and the SCC team for their coordination and commitment.
This first delivery is a step forward in building a stronger, more connected South Choiseul and a reminder that progress is best achieved through unity and shared responsibility.
