The Director of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA SI) Adventist Development and Relief Agency-Solomon Islands, Leyn E Gantare, paid a courtesy call to the Western Provincial Government (WPG) during his first official trip to the Western Province last week.
During his visit, Mr. Gantare met with WPG Premier Billy Veo and Provincial Secretary (PS) Patrick Toiraena at the WPG office in Gizo on Monday, August 26, 2024.
The purpose of the meeting was to brief the Premier and PS on the projects ADRA SI is currently implementing in the Western Province, as well as to discuss the challenges faced by the project teams in the field.
ADRA Solomon Islands is currently implementing the National Sustainable Sanitation Plan (NSSP) Phase Two program located in Rannogah, Vela, and
Kolobangara Islands. Additionally, through the Turn on the Tap Project (TOTT), ADRA has funded the construction of wash facilities (Ablution Blocks) for schools in West Gizo, including Ngari Primary School, Titiana Primary and High School, Barasipo High School in Vonavona Lagoon, and Rawaki High School on Kohigo Island, opposite Noro Town. Several other projects under the Church Disability Centre (CDC), Disaster Ready Church (DRC), and Disaster Ready (DR) 2 programs have also been funded in various communities across the Western Province.
Mr. Gantare expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with the WPG Premier and PS, despite their busy schedules. “I am very pleased to have met with the WPG Premier and PS. It was valuable to sit down with them and discuss our ongoing projects and the challenges we face in
implementing these projects in the province’’
‘’Following this meeting, I will explore ways to overcome the huge needs with limitations of funding and donor support to enhance our projects in the Western Province. I look forward to working closely with WPG as our partner in these efforts,’’ Mr. Gantare said.
