Member of Parliament for Maringe Kokota Hon. Cathrine Nori Launa recently attended the 8th Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Conference, which was held as part of the 67th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Sydney.
She shared her positive takeaways from the event, describing it as a valuable chance to connect with and learn from women parliamentarians across the Commonwealth.
During the conference, Hon. Launa took part in discussions about key issues, such as ways to increase women’s political participation and how to better support women MPs to stay in Parliament. “It was a wonderful experience,” she said.
“I learned so much from the other women parliamentarians, especially about the challenges we face and the strategies to keep women MPs in Parliament. This knowledge is incredibly helpful as we work to strengthen the role of women in our political systems.”
Hon. Launa also encouraged other women in politics to attend future Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) events. She emphasized how important these global platforms are for sharing ideas, addressing common challenges, and offering support to women leaders in politics. These conferences, she said, provide vital inspiration and solidarity for women parliamentarians around the world.
The CWP Conference is a key part of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), dedicated to promoting gender equality and supporting women in leadership roles within legislative bodies across the Commonwealth.
