Kenneth Sagupari has been elected as the new Premier of the Central Islands Province (CIP) following a decisive vote held this afternoon in Tulagi. Sagupari, who represents Ward 2 Central West Ngella, secured the position with 8 votes, defeating rival candidate David Manetiva, who received 4 votes. One ballot was declared invalid.
The election was confirmed by CIP Speaker Hon. Francis Moah, who stated that the process ran smoothly.

Sagupari played a key role in the recent political shakeup, having led the successful motion of no confidence against former premier Gabriel Salini last week. Salini had held the office for just a year before being ousted.
Speaking shortly after his election, Sagupari told said, “Yes, my team won,” signaling a fresh start under his leadership for the province.
