Honiara, Solomon Islands — The Ministry of Health and Medical Services, in partnership with World Vision Solomon Islands and supported by the Global Fund, has begun the nationwide distribution of mosquito nets to help prevent malaria.
The public is reminded that these mosquito nets are completely free of charge and are not for sale under any circumstances. The ongoing distribution is being carried out by provincial malaria teams to ensure all communities have access to this essential health item.
Authorities are warning that selling or re-selling mosquito nets is illegal and constitutes an act of corruption punishable by law. Member of the public who are asked to pay for a mosquito net are strongly encouraged to report such cases immediately and confidentially to World Vision by calling +677 23092 during office hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday to Friday).
This campaign highlights the government’s and partners’ firm commitment to fighting malaria and ensuring equitable access to life-saving resources. Do not buy mosquito nets. They are free. Reporting abuse is the right thing to do.
