The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), in collaboration with United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has organized a one-day stakeholders meeting in Gizo, Western Province.
The stakeholders meeting was held at the Gizo Women Centre (GWC) Building on December 6, 2024.
This stakeholders meeting was the second such meeting held in Gizo organized by ADRA through support of UNICEF.
The meeting was led by UNICEF’s Provincial Sanitation Coordinator, Mr. Junior Rauka, and attended by the Provincial Government Minister for Health and Medical Services, Mr. Kenneth George, as well as representatives from NGOs and government stakeholders.
ADRA Project Manager for the National Sanitation Sustainability Plan (NSSP), Ms. Vema Kiko, realized the importance of stakeholders’ involvement in the project implementation further described that the meeting as a success and expressed her commitment to working collaboratively with the Provincial Government to achieve the project’s goals and objectives.
Ms. Kiko highlighted that the primary aim of the meeting was to provide updates to stakeholders and leaders of the Western Provincial Government on the progress of the NSSP project in the region.
She also acknowledged the valuable contributions of stakeholders, including UNICEF representatives, who attended in the meeting and engaged with the updates on the project.
The NSSP Phase 2 Project was funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) through UNICEF and implemented by ADRA across Kolobangara, Vella La Vella, and Rannogah Islands.
In October, UNICEF and ADRA has expanded the project again to Simbo Island together with the RWASH Team in Western Province to complete some of the sites in phase 1. Work is underway in four key communities on the island, with significant progress being made.
