On the evening of Tuesday, 24 June 2025, three delegations of Solomon Islands Government officials currently undergoing training in Beijing paid a courtesy visit to the Solomon Islands Ambassador to the Peopleโs Republic of China, His Excellency Barrett Salato.
Ambassador Salato warmly welcomed the officials from the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and the Ministry of Rural Development to the Embassy of Solomon Islands in Beijing. He acknowledged and appreciated their efforts in visiting what he described as their “home away from home.”
The officials are in China attending separate training programs sponsored by the Chinese Government.
During the meeting, Ambassador Salato delivered a presentation on China, highlighting the evolving relationship and growing cooperation between Solomon Islands and China.
He also discussed Chinaโs global influence and its role as an important development partner for Solomon Islands.
In a Q&A session that followed, the officials shared their experiences, asked questions, and exchanged views on their observations about China.
The Embassy noted that the delegations collectively recognized China as a vast and technologically advanced country.
Officials from the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs shared insights from their judicial seminar, with Mr. Daniel Kwalai of the Leadership Code Commission emphasizing China’s forward-thinking approach and innovative capacity.
The meeting served as a successful platform for meaningful dialogue and the exchange of ideas to further strengthen Solomon IslandsโChina relations.
Ambassador Salato encouraged all Solomon Islanders visiting China to stop by the Embassy in Beijingโwhether for a quick tok-stori, lunch, or a guided tour of the city.
