A delegation from China’s Fujian Province recently visited Western Province (WP), where they met with Deputy Premier Brian Lotikena. The visit, led by Mr. Chen Guoquan, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Fujian Province, builds on the successful trip of Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele to China earlier this year.
During their meeting, Mr. Chen highlighted the remarkable progress Fujian has made in poverty alleviation, emphasizing the province’s commitment to reforms that foster both economic growth and social development. He explained how Fujian’s combination of modern innovation and community-driven efforts has led to sustainable improvements in livelihoods.
“We believe our experiences could provide valuable insights and practical approaches for others facing similar challenges,” Mr. Chen remarked, highlighting Fujian’s desire to deepen sister relations with Western Province and share its success in poverty reduction.
The delegation also took the opportunity to visit a local farm, further strengthening their ties and exploring potential areas for collaboration.
