Solomon Islands music is shining brighter than ever, with acclaimed artist and producer Jaro Local earning a prestigious nomination for Best International Pacific Artist at the 2025 Pacific Music Awards for his single “Aghe Kula”.
Jaro Local, born Jeremy Saeni—has been a driving force behind the international recognition of island music, blending traditional Pacific rhythms with modern island reggae and R&B. From his early days with Dezine to his solo breakout with the hit “Dakini Tangarareh”, Jaro has captured the hearts of audiences across the Pacific and beyond.
In 2019, he became the first Melanesian artist to win in this category, marking a historic moment for Solomon Islands music.
Now, in 2025, he returns as a finalist among a record 34 nominees across 13 categories. With 15 first-time nominees, this year’s Pacific Music Awards showcase the vibrant growth and deepening talent of the Pacific music scene.
