The Solomon Islands Meteorological Service has officially cancelled the Strong Wind Warning that was previously issued for the waters of Renell & Bellona, Temotu, and Makira provinces. The cancellation was announced at 6:30 AM on Friday, 27th December 2024, as the weather conditions have improved.
Weather Situation Update:
A trough, which had been influencing weather patterns over the Solomon Islands, has now moved on, leading to a decrease in the strong winds that had been affecting the region. The expected west to northwest winds, which had been forecasted to reach speeds of 20 to 25 knots, have now eased and are no longer above the warning threshold.
While the strong winds have subsided, the public is still advised to exercise caution, as poor visibility may persist due to ongoing showers and thunderstorms in the affected areas.
This announcement marks the final update regarding the strong wind event in the region.
Residents and mariners in Renell & Bellona, Temotu, and Makira provinces are encouraged to remain alert for potential weather changes, particularly in areas experiencing showers and thunderstorms.
