To: Madam Garu, Family, and Relatives of the Late Hon. Moses Garu in Guadalcanal and elsewhere
It is with profound sorrow that we receive the news of the passing of the late Hon. Moses Garu, a husband, father, brother, and the Member of Parliament for West Guadalcanal Constituency, whom our dear Lord has called to eternal rest. His passing yesterday leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him, worked alongside him, and were led by his wisdom and humility.
He was a leader known for his grace, humility, and dedication, serving his people with wisdom since 2010. His leadership was quiet yet impactful, focused on listening and thoughtful decision-making, in line with Guadalcanal’s cultural values.
Before entering politics, Garu worked as an agricultural teacher, senior officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, a bank manager, and in the investment sector, bringing a wealth of experience to his political career. He held multiple ministerial positions and was a strong advocate for Guadalcanal’s interests, particularly in shaping policies through the bi-annual Coordinating Committee meetings.
His death is mourned by Guadalcanal Province, not only for his leadership but also for the lasting impact of his character and values. His legacy will continue to inspire those he served. May he rest in peace and may God continue to heal those who are broken in spirits.
