In accordance with the Solomon Islands Government’s Policy to reduce Tariff by 25% over a three-year period, Solomon Power is pleased to inform its valued Customers that effective from 1st of January 2025 the Electricity Tariff has been reduced by 8.3%.
The Solomon Islands Government’s Policy in tariff reduction is very much consistent with Solomon Power’s constant strive to make the tariff affordable to users and electricity accessible to as many people as possible throughout the country.
The 8.3% reduction in 2025 is factored through the Non-Fuel Charge of the Electricity Tariff.
The Fuel Charge component of Electricity Tariff will not be impacted as it is a pass through cost that is directly linked to the fluctuations of International Fuel Market. Solomon Power is continuing with its plans to remove reliance on imported fuel through its Renewable Energy Strategy, which includes;
🟩 Converting its existing provincial outstations from 100% diesel generations (DG) to Solar Hybrids (Solar/Battery/DG)
🟩Ensuring all new provincial locations will be Solar Hybrid Systems
🟩Implementing the Renewable Energy Roadmap in Honiara, which includes additional Solar farms, as well as Component 3 of the Tina River Hydro Project (Transmission Line from Tina Hydro to Lungga Power House).
Solomon Power will continue to manage and operate the business in a professional and responsible manner, complying with all the statutory and legal requirements, without compromising safety for our customers and staff.
