Solomon Water would like to inform their valued customers that water supply from Kongulai is still closed and under round the clock observation. This is due to high turbidity caused by current heavy rains at the source. Supplying water under these conditions would compromise its safety, potentially leading to serious public health issues.
According to the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service, current weather conditions indicate ongoing rainfall, with forecasts suggesting a gradual improvement in the coming days. Water supply from the Kongulai source will resume as soon as rainfall subsides and water quality standards are restored.
In the meantime, water production from our bore fields is continuing however, it is not enough to ensure continuous water supply to all their customers. Therefore, depending on the customer locations within our network, some customers may continue to receive water, whilst the rest may not receive water when supply from Kongulai is closed. Kongulai source supplies the majority of water, thus when Solomon Water is forced to shut the source, it really affects their capacity to ensure continuous water supply to all their customers.
Solomon Water is currently monitoring the source turbidity and they will keep you informed.
