The North Guadalcanal Constituency (NGC) Office proudly reaffirms its ongoing commitment to rural unity, community partnership, progress, and sustainable development in the constituency and its communities.
This effort included the recent delivery of 492 pieces of roofing sheets, valued at over SBD$73,000 and funded under the Solomon Islands Government Constituency Development Funds (CDF), along with a generous donation of SBD$10,000 grant assistance from Sape Medical Clinic.
During a heartfelt ceremony, the constituency officially delivered these vital materials and grant assistance to the Koli Village church, a project of great importance to the community and the wider NGC.
This church as with other community churches in the Solomon Islands, holds deep historical and cultural significance, symbolising community cooperation and institutions of unity; bringing people of diverse social backgrounds together through their faith and religious beliefs.
This Church at Koli Village was originally built by the late Paramount Chief Samuel Saki.
The Chairman of the church project, Mr. Toneki, expressed deep gratitude for the constituency support, acknowledging the national government through Honourable Dr. Paul Bosawai, MP for North Guadalcanal and his Constituency Office and officers, Simon Ngoli and, Stobart Nunuvia, for their ongoing commitment and support to community development initiatives in the constituency.Β
βWe sincerely thank the national government through our MP for his generosity in supporting our church. His contribution in kind and grant reflects his dedication to uplifting our community,β Mr. Toneki stated.
“We are deeply grateful for this kind donation. This grant assistance, along with the hardware materials provided by the constituency office, will significantly contribute to the progress of our churchβs development initiatives.
βThis is not only about hard infrastructure; this is about building good citizens and peaceful coexistence for progressive development and change in our communities,β Toneki expressed.
βThis act of kindness highlights the spirit of giving within the community and sets an inspiring example for others to follow,β Toneki emphasized.
During the handing over ceremony, in a heart-warming display of generosity and community spirit, Joseph Bosawai, the seven-year-old son of Hon. Bosawai, representing Sape Medical Clinic, graciously donated SBD$10,000 to support the churchβs ongoing development.
In his remarks, Honourable Dr. Bosawai emphasized the importance of service and charity.
He said, βHanding over this grant assistance by my son is my way of teaching him the spirit of giving. Our family believes in serving the church, the government, and our people whenever we can. We invest 10 per cent of our business profits back into the community and its development through charity.β
Hon. Dr. Bosawai expressed heartfelt appreciation to the community of Koli for their unwavering dedication to completing the church.
βThis church is more than just a building; itβs a symbol of hope and unity for our region,β he said.
Hon. Dr. Bosawai also underscored the importance of community collaboration in achieving the constituencyβs transformative agenda, particularly in economic development and education.
βWe must work together to lift ourselves out of poverty,β he stated.
βInvesting in Church institutions is vital for our future, and I encourage everyone to remain united in completing the church and adhering to Christian principles.
βCommunity churches do have a key role in moulding good social behaviours based on Jesusβs teachings of peace and love. These are foundations for social cohesiveness, peaceful coexistence, and social progression. When community relationships are positive, this will also reflect positive development in rural communities,β Hon. Bosawai emphasised.
He further said that economic development does not take place in a vacuum. βIt requires peaceful existence of communities. Church and faith-based institutions are critical in this process.β
Additionally, Hon. Bosawai also highlighted his 12-year strategic vision for the constituency, announcing that next year in June, 2026, a cooperative society will be launched to further boost local economic growth.
Hon. Dr Bosawai further revealed that on June 4 this year, the constituency inaugurated 12 economic zones aimed at fostering sustainable development through farming and improving the food systemβnot only for North Guadalcanal Constituency but also in urban areas such as Honiara.
βIn our journey toward positive change, each of us must remain committed to our strategic plans,β he urged. βLet us be the change we wish to see. May God bless us all.β
