New Zealand Crowned OFC U-16 Men’s Champions in Honiara

New Zealand have once again shown their dominance in Oceania football, winning the OFC U-16 Men’s Championship 2025 after a hard-fought 2-0 victory over New Caledonia in the grand final at the National Stadium in Honiara yesterday.

The tense encounter showcased New Zealand’s discipline and attacking edge, as they secured their place as Oceania’s top youth side and booked their ticket to the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2026. Leaving New Caledonia as the runner up and also qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2026.

Meanwhile, Fiji celebrated a historic achievement, overcoming Papua New Guinea in the third-place playoff to claim the bronze medal. The win also ensured Fiji’s qualification for next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup, joining New Zealand and New Caledonia as Oceania’s representatives on the global stage.

The 2025 edition of the tournament not only highlighted the strength of New Zealand’s youth football system but also underlined New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Fiji’s rising presence in the region’s football scene.
