Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) through commitment are advancing partnership in sports with Solomon Islands National University (SINU) within the school’s ‘Department of Campus Life’.
Headed by SINIS Education Department, a follow up meeting regarding this goal was held yesterday with SINU’s Campus Life Department.
On behalf of SINU’s Campus Life Department, Manager Samson Bisafo thank SINIS for reaching out regarding the pivotal role the sport institute will play in the development and success of sports and fitness at SINU, particularly within the Department of Campus Life.
“We welcome this initiative and are excited about the opportunity to partner with SINIS. I understand a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has already been signed by both parties,” said Bisafo.
As pointed out by Mr Bisafo, the partnership between SINIS and SINU is incredibly significant for several reasons:⤵️
📍Talent Development: This collaboration will help identify and nurture young talents through various programs, including talent identification and multi-sport cluster days. This ensures promising athletes to receive the support and training they need to excel☑️.
📍Educational Opportunities: By working together, SINIS and SINU can offer scholarships and educational programs that integrate sports and academics. This helps student-athletes to balance their sporting commitments with their studies☑️.
📍High-Performance Programs: The partnership allows for the implementation of high-performance programs that aim to elevate the quality of sports in Solomon Islands. This includes providing access to training venues, coaching and international competitions☑️.
📍National Representation: The collaboration is geared towards preparing athletes for major events like the Pacific Games. This helps build a strong national team that can represent Solomon Islands on the international stage☑️.
📍Community Engagement: The partnership fosters a sense of community and encourages participation in sports at all levels. It also promotes a healthy lifestyle among the youth☑️.
“Overall, this partnership is a step towards creating a robust sports ecosystem in Solomon Islands, benefiting athletes, educational institutions and the community at large,” said Bisafo.
SINIS continuing its partnership with SINU is part of an MOU signed early last year 2024 between the two institutions.
The MOU signed is a joint agreement upon a faculty exchange program which is to enable students and staffs of both SINIS and SINU institutions to share their expertise and provide school students with diverse perspectives in sports-related fields.
