As the days are looming for the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Oceania, some countries seem more prepared than others.

Solomon Islands, known as one of the best football nations in Oceania is still interviewing for a head coach for its Men’s National team less than a couple of months to go before they meet Fiji on the 10th of October.

The National team has been passed from one interim coach to another as an experiment. They are currently training under another interim coach.

The previous interim coach, Jacob Moli was heavily criticized by football fans for his comments after losing in pool matches from the OFC Nation’s Cup this year in the pool matches. This was a sad and embarrassing loss for this football nation.

Things seem a little bit shaky at the headquarters of the Solomon Islands Football Federation. The President of SIFF Mr. Donald Marahare met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino early this month and mentioned the challenges faced by the national teams, particularly following the recent OFC Nations Cup, and emphasized the need for thorough preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

However, they had earlier indicated that a new coach would be appointed at the end of July, but, this was not done and time is ticking towards the September friendlies with Fiji and Hong Kong-China.

It’s August already and still, Marahare added that the federation is actively working on appointing a new head coach to lead the team through these critical stages at the meeting with the FIFA President.

As to everyone’s knowledge, there is a 42-man extended training side under the guidance of technical director and interim coach Moses Toata and they are having three days a week of training.

Will this be enough to prepare a strong team? Or a new head coach can come in these dying times and make a miracle?
