Honiara, Solomon Islands – September 9, 2025
In a landmark moment for regional cooperation, the Prime Ministers of the Solomon Islands and Fiji, Hon. Jeremiah Manele and Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka has signed a new security agreement, further deepening the bonds between the two Melanesian nations.
This historic pact builds on a legacy of mutual support, from shared efforts during World War II to the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), and most recently, Fiji’s contribution to the Solomon Islands International Assistance Force. The agreement symbolizes a continued commitment to standing together in times of need.

Grounded in the principles of the Biketawa and Boe Declarations, the agreement emphasizes collective security, peace, and regional stability. It also reflects the nations’ shared commitment to the Blue Pacific identity, a vision of unity, resilience, and cooperation across Oceania.
As both countries look ahead, this security pact marks a significant step toward a stronger, safer, and more united Pacific region.
