Honiara, Solomon Islands (November 4), 2025 โ€“ Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD), Dr. Franco Rodie, congratulates Woodford Robotics Team for making the country proud to finish 4th out of 190 countries at the 2025 First Global Challenge in Panama City.

Dr. Rodie was at the Honiara International Airport on Thursday, 4th November 2025, as a guest of honor to welcome the Woodford Robotics Team in a jubilation staged by students, teachers, and parents.

Led by chaperone Mr. Lerric Tito, the team โ€“ comprising Year 11 students Sanjaia Kalamendi and Chris Tony and Year 10 student Kilifi Ruaia.
In welcoming the students, Dr. Rodie was overwhelmed with the great achievement and competency of the students to be able to apply their knowledge on a global stage.

He said there is no time he can remember any secondary school students have participated and achieved to that level.

โ€œI am proud that you are competent to apply your knowledge,โ€ he said.

School Principal Alex Haro describes his studentsโ€™ achievement as historic and the best performance so far.

Woodford Robotics Team, in their previous participation have settled on 35th position, and this year they made it to 4th position, marking a historical achievement for the students.
