To every officer in uniform, you are the foundation of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) organization, a strong statement echoed by the new police commissioner, Mr. Ian Vaevaso, during the official handover ceremony on 30 April 2026 at Rove police headquarters.

The new police chief said your discipline, resilience, and commitment sustain the RSIPF. Today marks not just a transition in leadership but the beginning of a new chapter for the RSIPF.

When I look at this organization, I do not just see it as an institution. I see officers serving in remote provinces, patrolling communities at night, responding to disasters, maintaining public order, and standing on the frontlines of national security.

โ€œI acknowledge and thank the RSIPF executive team and our officers here in Honiara and throughout the country for your dedication and commitment to duty,โ€ said Mr. Vaevaso.

The new police boss said, “In recent years, we have seen encouraging signs of growth and professional achievement within our force.” Our Police Response Teamโ€™s participation in the World SWAT Challenge in Dubai demonstrated tactical capability and professionalism recognized internationally.

More officers are pursuing higher education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, strengthening leadership and decision making in an increasingly complex security environment.

Participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions has also expanded experience and professionalism across the force. We have continued to build capability in investigations, maritime security, cybercrime, forensics, disaster response, and community policing through targeted training and development.

โ€œIt is for these reasons that I stand here today with a clear sense of purpose. I am proud to serve alongside you, and I am honored to lead this force as we move into this next chapter together. As commissioner, one of my core priorities is to invest in you, the officers of the RSIPF,โ€ he said.

Our Strategic Plan 2026โ€“2036 provides clear direction, building a workforce that is skilled, disciplined, and grounded in integrity while being properly supported to do the job. This includes leadership development, fair progression, performance management, and officer wellbeing,โ€ the new police chief said.
