It is with delight, that we send you our sincere greetings as we celebrate our beloved country’s 47th Independence Anniversary.
Though diverse in cultures, traditions, ethnicities, languages and islands, we are united as one nation connected by the beautiful blue ocean. 47 Years ago, on the 7th of July 1978 we gained our independence as a sovereign nation and have determined our own development pathways over these years.
We have many victories, challenges on this journey. It is our resilience as one people that brought us this far.
As we celebrate this day, let us take time to reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers who have sacrificed their lives in creating what is known as Solomon Islands today.
As we look into the future, let the efforts and visions of our founding generations be our guide into the future.
The Ministry of Rural Development is committed to deliver and support the national government development efforts in our rural areas. We strive to improve social and economic livelihoods of all rural Solomon Islanders and make Solomon Islands a better place for our citizens.
Fellow Solomon Islanders, as you celebrate this day, remember to reflect and celebrate with pride the countless benefits of our independence; our freedom, and thanking God for the gift of life.
