One of the major recruiting agencies for age care workers in Australia recently completed a two day in-country recruitment for care workers in Honiara.

Australian Regional Remote Community Services (ARRCS) is an agency that provides care and support to elderly people in regional and urban communities, throughout the Northern Territory and beyond.

Recruitment lead Kate McWilliam and People & Culture and PALM lead Loretta Sherman confirmed that they have interviewed more than 50 workers but will only have placements for 29. Amongst the 29, 23 will be care workers while 6 will be cooks.

Loretta further mentioned during the interview with LMU that this recruitment is targeted for the Northern Territory specifically in Alice Springs, Tennant creek and Katherine.

Currently there are Solomon Island workers under ARRCS who are not only working in personal care but also in supporting roles such as in hospitality, admin, maintenance and cooks.

“We are happy to recruit from Solomon Islands for the third time because we understand that workers are doing their prep training in-country under Equinox which actually helps to ease the pressure when they arrive in Australia”, explains Loretta. She also mentions that with the recent ACE program evaluation being done they are excited to proceed with their recruitment.

ARRCS has a workforce of 130 workers with the help of PALM from four different countries and it has also helped to stabilized their regional and remote workforce.

Director LMU, Christina Marau acknowledged the Australian Regional Remote Community Services for choosing Solomon Islands and utilizing the work ready pool to recruit age care workers.
