Honiara residents are being urged by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) to take immediate action in clearing derelict and abandoned vehicles that continue to obstruct road maintenance and improvement works across the city.
According to authorities, these abandoned vehicles are not only slowing down critical road realignment and expansion projects but are also posing serious safety hazards for motorists and pedestrians alike.

MID has designated the Ranadi Landfill Site as the official disposal area for such vehicles and are appealing to owners, mechanics, and community members to remove them without delay.
Despite previous awareness efforts led by the Safeguards Team, compliance remains a challenge. The team is now working closely with the Honiara City Council to enforce measures that will ensure the swift removal of abandoned vehicles from public spaces.
Community cooperation is being emphasized as important in keeping Honiaraβs roads safe and accessible. Residents are encouraged to act responsibly and support the initiative for a cleaner and safer city.
